Hubballi stone-pelting incident : Section 144 continues in city

Section 144 continues to remain in place in Hubballi city after a stone-pelting incident took place at Old Hubli Police Station on 17 April.

Hubballi Police commissioner said, Till now, 88 persons including an AIMIM corporator's husband have been arrested in the matter, reported by news media ANI.

Last Saturday few missacrants pelting stones on hospital and four police personnel, including an inspector who were trying to control the situation, were injured by the stone pelters. The attackers also attacked the vehicles, throwing stones and damaging them. The police used tear gas to bring the situation under control. Later section 144 has been imposed.

A man has been arrested for defamatory posting on a social media network, accused of the reason for all these incidents.
